PAWN: MAP REVEAL
revealing the fantasy map of my debut novel
To celebrate the fourth anniversary of my Instagram account, I’m revealing the fantasy map of Pawn: A Fairy Tale!
Pawn is a portal fantasy, which means that some events occur on Earth, but the majority of the story unfolds in an eerie, enchanting fantasy world known as Meer.
Nora, the cover artist and illustrator of Pawn, did a fantastic job of rendering Meer. I even changed some details in the book to better align with her creative vision. I adore the little quirks she added to the map, such as the cat in the clouds (a nod to the Cheshire Cat) and the fairy mushrooms in the Living Garden. The map evokes every aspect of a fairy tale. Whenever I look at it, I’m overwhelmed at how lucky I am to have an illustrator who understands my story and my world so well.

Wow... I love it! I love maps with small details like this one. The resting sun. The ying-yang whirlpool. The door(?) in the clouds. And of course the cat! So excited for this!
